Jenny

I have been teaching English since 1999. I have taught adults from all around the world in many different settings; from language schools in Europe, a village hut in Madagascar, one to one in people’s homes and even in a donut factory. However, most of my teaching experience has been community-based, in schools, libraries and nurseries around Sheffield.

In 2004, I started to work for SAVTE as the ‘Training and Curriculum Development Worker.’ I took a rather long ‘break’ in 2012 to focus on bringing up my family but got the opportunity to return to the post in 2017.

I love working for SAVTE because it is such a fantastic grassroots organisation which really does change lives. Moreover, it gives me the opportunity to work with so many dedicated and talented volunteers and meet such resilient and diligent learners. It gives me enormous satisfaction to see how much the volunteers and learners achieve from their placements and I often feel humbled by the lengths they go to reach their goals.

I also, somehow manage to fit in a bit of horse riding and regularly paint my face blue and dance around hitting people with sticks as a Morris dancer.
