Community and Volunteer Development Worker

I first joined SAVTE as a volunteer 1:1 tutor in 2002. My first learner was Samira who came from Yemen, I’m still friends with her and her family to this day.

I supported another 3 learners until 2007 when a post as Outreach and Development Worker became available, I applied and was successful.Click here for other bios...

The post was originally just for 6 months, but here I am 17 years later!

Working for SAVTE for all these years is a reflection on how much I enjoy my job. What I really enjoy is working on Sheffield’s rich and varied estates, connecting with local people and working to bring communities together.

I have recently become a Fellow of the Churchill Fellowship. (See my findings for the Churchill Fellowship report into refugee integration here) I enjoy gardening, am somewhat of a gamer and also enjoy keeping fit at our community gym.
