I first joined SAVTE as a volunteer 1:1 tutor in 2002. My first learner was Samira who came from Yemen, I’m still friends with her and her family to this day.
I supported another 3 learners until 2007 when a post as Outreach and Development Worker became available, I applied and was successful.
The post was originally just for 6 months, but here I am 13 years later!
Working for SAVTE for 13 years is a reflection on how much I enjoy my job. What I really enjoy is working on Sheffield’s rich and varied estates, connecting with local people and working to bring communities together.
As for myself, I have recently become a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. I enjoy gardening, am somewhat of a gamer and twice a week train with the Sheffield Steel Roller Derby team.
