Caroline Lee – English Tutor – Good Work
I joined SAVTE in the summer of 2020, although our paths crossed in 2003 when I worked with another English language support project in Sheffield. I care about promoting opportunity and reducing inequality so being part of SAVTE’s partnership with Good Work feels very important. Connecting with people and being a part of helping them grow their skills is a real privilege.
I started teaching ESOL and functional English in 1996 and have since worked with a variety of organisations and different learner groups. Seeing a tangible change in people’s language skills and confidence over time brings me a lot of pleasure. No two days are the same as a tutor; it’s pretty hard to get bored.
I love meeting people with diverse backgrounds, cultures and points of view. English language tutors get asked a lot of stimulating questions by their learners which is a reminder there’s always more to get to know about your own city and your own culture – and yourself!
