My journey with SAVTE began in 2018 as a learner in an ESOL Level 2 class and a conversation group. Then I took an interest in SAVTE, offering my help as a volunteer in the office.
In February 2020, I applied for a project role researching the ESOL needs of men and new arrivals, and then my contract was extended so that I could coordinate the new arrivals groups in the hotel.
My background in Yemen was in programme management, which helped in promoting me to lead on establishing the evaluation framework and project managing the new database. I now volunteer as a trustee.
Working with SAVTE meets my objectives in terms of playing a substantial role in serving local communities and needy people, and gives me the opportunity to join an inspirational team that aims to support people and improve their lives.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading articles and books, but mostly I prefer to get involved in
voluntary work with some local charities.
