I joined SAVTE as a volunteer in 2021, and then got the opportunity to join the SAVTE team in January 2022 as the SPRING Project Support Worker, alongside my work as an ESOL teacher.

I have been an ESOL teacher for 5 years, working in France, China, India, Italy and online with students from all over the world. I love teaching English as it connects people and opens up new opportunities and skills, as well as being an incredibly fun job.

In my SAVTE role I get to connect with lots of different people, supporting the SPRING project, and getting people involved in volunteering and learning opportunities.

Having lived and worked abroad, I have experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to get used to a new country and to do everyday things when faced with a language barrier. Having support going through this makes it a lot easier. I think it’s so important to help newcomers integrate and connect with their community in Sheffield, making the process of settling in a positive experience.

In my free time, I love cooking and baking, swimming, learning languages (3 and counting!), visiting new places, and teaching myself to sew.
