I first joined SAVTE as an ESOL tutor in 2013, teaching community-based ESOL classes. My previous ESOL experience was in Rotherham – supporting ESOL families in schools, libraries and community centres.

My previous ESOL experience was in Rotherham – supporting ESOL families in schools, libraries and community centres.
In 2015 I had the chance to apply for my current role at SAVTE, Curriculum and Development Worker and this has given me the opportunity to get involved with the volunteer programme – delivering the training course and supporting individual volunteers in teaching placements.
In addition, I support our team of ESOL tutors and manage the provision of our ESOL classes – ensuring the provision meets the needs of learners and the quality standards of our funders and partners.
I love teaching ESOL, and I am now back in the classroom, working with a class of learners again in addition to my day to day role.
I started my journey into ESOL in 2010 as a complete career change, and have no regrets. Being able to support individuals to develop life-changing skills, is incredibly rewarding and often great fun!
