I was delighted to become a trustee at SAVTE in early 2025.
Since moving from Hong Kong to Sheffield in 2022, I’ve been working as a social worker in adult mental health services in the city.
During this time, I’ve referred some of our service users to SAVTE and have been deeply impressed by the organisation’s impact and its collaborative work with both volunteers and learners. SAVTE plays a key role in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds learn English and gain confidence in speaking.
Some of the learners not only successfully adapted to the life in the UK, but also contribute to the community by being volunteers in SAVTE. This is a circulatory process of spreading our love and care in Sheffield. I’m looking forward to contributing to SAVTE’s ongoing work as a trustee and using my experience to support its growth and mission.
