Finance and Operations Assistant

My background is in organisational development support, admin and co-ordination for charities, and I’m also a writer and a translator from French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. I came back to the UK a year ago after 13 years living in Portugal, and am involved with a few different Sheffield voluntary sector organisations as a freelancer and a volunteer.

I love all work that is with and for communities and is about improving people’s lives and reducing inequalities instead of making money. So many things are needed, but welcoming, supporting and connecting people who’ve come to the UK from other places is a really important one for me, so I’m happy to be working at SAVTE.

I help Maymona with all the financial and administrative processes that keep the organisation running.

Outside work I mainly spend my time learning how to grow vegetables in this climate, walking and swimming outdoors and sitting underneath my cat reading something printed on paper. I’ve also had some things published on paper, including a novel about the drugs trade in Afghanistan and London called ‘Fair Trade Heroin’.
